put someone on the spot 是個英文中還蠻常用的片語

意思是當眾問某人一個問題或逼迫他當下做出決定,使他難堪、尷尬

想像一下被當眾點名,所有目光都集中在你身上,就是這種感覺

也可以用被動語態 be put on the spot

例如:

He put Lisa on the spot by asking her why she didn’t want to get married.
(他問莉莎為什麼不想結婚,當眾讓她尷尬。)

Don’t ever put me on the spot like that. It isn’t cool.
(不要再像那樣當眾讓我難堪。那樣很不酷。)

I was put on the spot when Kenny wanted me to take care of his dog for a few days. I hate dogs.
(肯尼想要我幫他照顧他的狗幾天,這使我很尷尬,因為我討厭狗。)
