上次講了 ”左上角”, “右下角” 的說法後, 我就想到大家應該也會想知道其他位置怎麼描述
像是第二排右邊數來第三個
果然也有同學提問了
所以今天就來補充一下
如果只有一排東西或人時
”左邊數來第二個” 就是 the second one from the left
所以 ”右邊數來第三個” 就是 the third one from the right
以此類推
大家比較不會的是 ”最右邊那個” 或 ”最左邊那個”
它們的說法是 the one on the far right / left
比如: My father is the one on the far right (in the photo).
有很多排時, 當然就會比較囉嗦和複雜, 但這也是沒辦法的事
像 ”前排右邊數來第三個” 就是 the third one from the right in the front row
(注意 ”排” row 的介系詞是 in )
”前排中間” 是 the one in the middle of the front row, 也可直接說 front-row middle (adj.)
比如: My father is front-row middle. 就好
”第二排中間” 就是 the one in the middle of the second row
當然也一樣可以說 second-row middle
a second-row middle seat 就是 ”第二排中間的位子”
”第五排最左邊” 就是 (on) the far right of the fifth row
或是 fifth row, far right
像 My father is in the fifth row, far right.
= My father is on the far right of the fifth row.
再更複雜一點就是當我們要說像 ”從上面數來第三排, 右邊第四個” 這種位置
這時因為太複雜, 通常的做法就是分段講
比如: third row from the top, fourth from the right
你當然還是可以說 the fourth from the right in the third row from the top
但就語言的溝通效率來說, 這種說法的效率太低了
因為連聽的人都會很麻煩
所以幾乎不會這麼講
只會說: My father is in the third row from the top, (the) fourth (one) from the right.
大家在雜誌圖片的位置描述中, 會看到的是去掉冠詞的講法
像是只會寫: top right, top left, top middle
front middle, second-row middle 等
大家也可以參考一下這個網址裡的描述方式:
