「身體不舒服」不是uncomfortable!

學英文最怕在中翻英的時候不明究理,就以為「中文=英文」

而沒有去考慮在這裡的意思是否一樣

以為「身體不舒服」叫uncomfortable,就像以為「香港」的「香」和「燒香」的「香」是一樣意思

事實上當然並非如此

uncomfortable是指生理或情緒上不舒服

比如坐了很硬的椅子、聽人家講黃色笑話

可是台灣中文裡的「身體不舒服」是指健康狀況

要用not well / unwell才對

sick也不完全對,因為那要有真正生病的症狀

有的時候「身體不舒服」只是一下子的,比如頭痛、想吐、感到疲倦

我們來造些句:

Debbie missed work today. She is unwell.
(黛比今天沒來上班。她身體不舒服。)

I’d rather stay home today. I’m not feeling well.
(我今天寧可待在家裡。我身體不舒服。)

You look pale. Are you unwell?
(你的臉色很蒼白。是身體不舒服嗎?)



 
 

Do you leave your classroom with questions?

Do you stare at your blank homework page?

Are you confused why your paper is covered in red?

Do you have trouble learning new things because you didn't understand the previous lesson?

Have you lost your curiosity, so learning English is boring?
