go south是什麼意思？

英文裡說某件事 go south 時，當然不是字面上「往南方走」的意思

而是指此事失敗，或情況變糟的意思

至於為什麼要用南方而不是其他方向呢？

那是因為南方一般是朝下的，所以有走下坡、變差的意思
