win the battle, lose the war 指的是什麼呢?

war 指的是兩國間的戰爭

battle 是一場戰爭中的一次 戰役

所以這句話字面上的意思就是 贏了一場戰役, 卻輸了整個戰爭

指雖然一時佔上風, 長遠來說卻是吃虧的

比如和上司起爭執, 也許當下吵贏了, 結果卻因此種下惡因而導致失業或在工作上更大的障礙

: The stock market might look better now, but investors should be careful not to

win the battle, lose the war.

If he hadn’t gotten the promotion, he wouldn’t have to be legally responsible for this incident.

I guess he won the battle, but lost the war.
